We actively and intentionally engage people with diverse perspectives and experiences to ensure that ALL voices are heard in addressing the pressing needs of today and building a collective preferred vision for tomorrow. Demographic data are collected from participants and compared to publicly available data for the region to ensure the sample population accurately represents our community.

Passions

In this exercise we asked participants what they are positive or passionate about. Diverse participants have many different passions, but there are common themes.

Visions

In this exercise we had participants draw in a group and then individually write and speak their vision of a preferred future for our region. These themes are summaries of what was said.

Group 1 Visions

    • bosse to have a better mental health section as well as being more for the people and not for the popular people
    • the future school to be more inclusive, more diverse, more healthcare, more safety, more rewards
    • negative stigma to positive thoughts on bosse, more about the black history & journey to justice, parent engagement starting in the home, appreciation of little things i.e. custodians, make your flag next, diversity, more studies and class travelling, vaccine health care importance
    • better community

    Group 2 Visions

    • equality, speaking up, standing up for what’s right, active listening, peaceful protests, and basic respect within our community to ensure that everybody is heard and that no one’s opinion is less valuable than the other
    • more free dresscode, equal opportunities for everyone, more clean environment in and out of the school, positive energy, less conflict, more school spirit, leadership skills to become stronger, make people comfortable enough to share their ideas with everyone
    • better opportunities to do better things and make better changes with the school so it will be and look better than how it is now; peaceful, LGBTQ friendly, active listening, kindness, welcoming, better school spirit, authenticity, peaceful protest/movements, positivity and inclusion
    • bosse’s future has a mentorship program for upperclassmen and elementary students; it’s important to be a positive influence for young kids, especially those who don’t receive much support from their parents. we need a more positive and inclusive atmosphere

    Group 3 Visions

      • girls talking about what their goals are after graduating from high school, and a girl thinking about graduating high school. cheerleaders talking about the plan as a team. “we never give up”
      • glenwood has a learning center, teachers encourage students always, students look forward to learning and aren’t afraid to try new things, inclusive of all students (special needs, etc.), involved with elderly alumni, school spirit/pride, diversity, inclusivity, bosse has a welcoming environment
      • getting involved and inclusivity, being kind and welcoming, more diversity, more school spirit, better opportunities for our youth environment, getting rid of our bad reputation and showing people how bosse really is
      • positive stigma/get rid of false bad reputation

      • a school where more people get involved in their community and have pride; the stigma around people who are different than us disappears. we’re all human and although we might not realize it, we’re all very similar

      • more happens and we don’t go back to old ways
      • kindness, inclusiveness, more school spirit, increase in academics and sports, teachers and students are more kind

      Group 5 Visions

        • a happy and welcoming environment full of fearless and confident people who know how to ask for help. resources are available and nobody feels singled out
        • a community together; there isn’t pointless fighting and petty arguments, there isn’t bullying, everyone can get along, everyone feels safe
        • bustling parks, homeless shelters, abundant resources, many different people, healthcare, happy and welcoming
        • bosse’s future is a place of good healthcare, diversity, outreach, programs, equality, a positive environment, shelters, good parks and playgrounds.
